How to enjoy a Regius Cigar
| Your Regius cigars are made with some of the finest quality tobacco in the world. They should be cared for and stored under appropriate humidity (68% – 74%) and around 64°F (18°C).Carefully select your cigar, inspecting the perfectly smooth wrapper. It should be springy when pressed, but not too soft, and should not ´crunch´.Next, cut the end with a cutter – there are many different cutters available; we recommend a standard guillotine cutter ensuring you have one with an adequate sized blade for larger ring gauge cigars such as the Robusto and Grandido, which can allow a better draw and protect the most delicate of wrappers. We do not recommend biting the cigar since it may result in a jagged cut and not burn evenly.Take the time and give the cigar the attention it deserves. Rushing can ruin the entire experience. In order to achieve an even burn and pure flavour, it is important to light the cigar with a splint or match (without phosphorus) since butane or wax can damage the flavour of the tobacco.Roll the cigar clockwise in your mouth as you light the other end. Turning the cigar anticlockwise can disjoint the wrapper as this is the direction in which it is rolled. Now take the cigar out of your mouth and blow on it and the entire surface of the lit end should glow orange. If not, light the areas which are unlit as this could result in an uneven burn.
Do not tap the ash off the end of the cigar; rather let it fall gracefully. The Regius construction is supreme and the ash insulates the cigar from going out if left unsmoked in the forgotten minute.
Leave the cigar in the tray facing up as it is less likely to extinguish, and for hygiene reasons resting the smoking end on a surface is not recommended. When you have finished, leave your Regius in the tray; do not extinguish it like a cigarette but let it expire gracefully. |
