Originating in the UK, the Regius Cigar company provides a elegant, refined and interesting smoking experience as demanded by those conossieurs who enjoy the traditional style of cigar. The signature taste profile is one of complexity and a distinctly clean flavour, retaining a smooth balance.
Acclaimed by some of London’s top tobacconists—among them J. J. Fox and Sautter’s—this cigar has come to the States. With elegant packaging that befits its regal name, the Regius has a rich Cubanesque flavor.
The Regius Robusto is impeccable from the outside in. The Regius jumps out of the gate with full body and flavor, and yet the strength is not overpowering. The flavors exhibit oak wood, espresso and a savory finish. As the cigar progressed I noted some baker’s cocoa come into the flavor profile.
For me, the Regius changes the game of my expectations for Nicaraguan tobacco going forward, and is arguably the best non-Cuban Cubanesque cigar I have experienced. Kudos to Akhil and the team at Regius, for putting out such a fine blend that challenges the ceiling of Nicaraguan blending.
This is a terrific cigar and one that many cigar smokers should reach out for to try. This is the one Nicaraguan puro that can be seen as a Cuban, and I would love to know the tobacco blend that the cigar possesses. From beginning to end the cigar shows a complex flavor profile that has tons of depth.
